10 Steps to a Winning Grant Proposal

  1. Be knowledgeable about your project.
  2. Be prepared to explain how your project will benefit the Mackinaw community.
  3. Write clearly and get to the point.
  4. Provide enough information for the Foundation to see the big picture.
  5. Plan to raise money from another source and be able to share on your application how your organization will fund the project.
  6. Budget should be accurate financial representation of the project. Do your research!
  7. Ask others to read your grant application. A good proposal should be clear to those not familiar with your project.
  8. Build upon the assets in the community.
  9. Provide all the documentation showing that your organization is eligible to receive a grant.
  10. Include a project timeline.
